Barack is the "new black"

I thought long and hard about writing this post. I knew that the unthinking amongst us -- both white and black -- would call me all kinds of nasty names: racist, bigot, Republican. I decided ultimately I don't care because the era of race baiting ends on January 20, 2009.

A strong, intelligent, inspirational African-American man will take the oath of office and ascend to the rank of "Leader of the Free World."

I'm voting for Obama, not because of his skin color and certainly not because I agree with most of his positions. No, I'm voting for him because I believe he's an inspirational figure who transcends politics like a Kennedy, or yes, a Reagan. A man who through sheer intelligence and leadership will propel this country to a better day.

In addition to celebrating President Obama's inauguration, we will bring down the curtain on the era of Jesse Jackson and his message of hate. I'm not going to bring up Jackson's use of the "N word" recently to describe Obama; nor his desire to castrate the junior senator of Illinois; this has been covered ad nauseum. Nope, I want to talk about a man, who since that tragic day in Memphis in 1969 has enriched himself -- in finances, fame and carnal dalliances -- on the back of another great leader.

Let's learn some history about Jesse Jackson (whom I will not dignify with the title Rev. because, after all, he dropped out of Seminary early and never returned). Dr. King appointed Jesse as the Chicago director of the SCLC. Shortly after King's death, his successor Ralph Abernathy suspended Jackson for "improprieties and repeated violations of organizational policy."

This set Jackson off on three decades of unchecked self aggrandisement. He engaged legal extortion of U.S. Corporations who didn't agree with his "mission." He preached a message of hate referring to Jews as "Hymies" and dubbing New York City "Hymietown." He buddied up with enemies of America like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. And he fathered a child out of wedlock with one of his staffers then paid her off to disappear, until it was uncovered by that media bastion of conservatism, CNN; all the while being given a free pass by the left and donning the placard as the leader of Black Americans. Well, win or lose, Obama will lower the curtain on this fraud in the coming months.

African-Americans who have made hard-fought gains in the last four decades will no longer be oppressed by this charlatan. No longer will they have to swallow hard as Jesse takes the stage to misrepresent their hard work and accomplishments as his doing.

The only shame of this situation is that Obama didn't come sooner to lead -- not the "black nation," but a whole, united nation. His victory will not eliminate racism. Whitey and his friends will still fly the Confederate flag and burn their crosses. There will still be racial tensions in America. But the election of Barack Obama will do more to unite, not the black people, but the American people, and advance our nation. He will not be the black President, he will be the American President, and as a result, he will bring to an end this sad chapter in our history.
