Steve Davisson Calls on Dems to Reject Political Games
(SALEM) Steve Davisson, Republican candidate for House District 73, said today, "As the Republican candidate for House District 73, let me be one of the first to congratulate HD 73 incumbent Dennie Oxley on his selection to be the Lt. Governor nominee. Although he will not be receiving my vote in November, I certainly recognize it is an honor for Mr. Oxley to be selected to run."
Davisson added, "However, I am concerned about reports that Representative Oxley's father, also named Dennie Oxley, will be selected to run for the House seat in the November election as kind of an insurance policy in case Dennie Junior loses his statewide race. I don't think it's right or fair for the Democrats to engineer this seat for the Oxley's."
"I am a serious candidate for this important legislative seat and if elected I promise to fill out my term, not hand it off to someone else in a political deal. I hope that Dennie Oxley, Sr. will be able to make this same pledge."
"I will fight for lower taxes, less government spending, new jobs and family values that are important to Hoosiers. The citizens of House District 73 deserve candidates on both sides of the aisle that have a commitment to them, not some political game to keep a legislative seat in the family," said Davisson.
"I hope these reports aren't true and I call on the current incumbent, State Representative Dennie Oxley II to assure us that no such deal is in the works," said Davisson.
Davisson, a Salem pharmacist, is a first time candidate for the Indiana legislature.
