Isn't It Ironic? Maybe We Should Do This Stuff Ourselves

We're hearing a lot of chatter these days from the City Hall end of Market Street about the need to outsource services to cut costs and increase efficiency.

Here's some food for thought: Mitch Daniels outsourced prison services and imported inmates to make a buck. He got a big ol' riot and had to send the imported inmates back. Mitch Daniels sold off the Indiana Toll Road for 75 years. He got 10 years worth of funding and a road that's plagued by potholes and poor service. Mitch Daniels awarded a decade-long, billion-plus dollar contract for welfare benefits and eligibility services. The call centers are overwhelmed, and people aren't getting what they need.

Mitch Daniels fixed the BMV. All by himself.

Proof positive that if our elected leaders put their minds to it instead of handing over the keys to private companies, we can solve our own problems.

Neat, huh?
